Singapore Sing Fling

This February Time Out Sydney worked with YourSingapore on a killer event at Sokyo Lounge at The Star. One hundred lucky Time Out subscribers donned their Sunday best for a night of cocktail revelry where four of Sydney’s top bartenders set up behind the bar in a competition to reinvent the classic Singapore Sling.

The campaign kicked off with a bespoke EDM sent to 49,277 subscribers – of which some 904 readers filled out a survey focused on Singapore and a lucky few were chosen to come along to they event. They were treated to a spectacular night of food, drink, music and interactive fun.

Time Out Sydney Editor Joel Meares was on hosting duties for the evening with DJ Beth Yen providing the tunes. Guests sampled each of the four cocktails and then cast a vote for the one they liked best. In addition to the people’s choice there was also a judges panel comprised of Sharon Lam from YourSingapore, Eddie De Souza from Tanqueray – who supplied the gin for the cocktails – and Time Out Australia CEO Michael Rodrigues.

The winning bartender received return flights for two to Singapore plus four nights accommodation courtesy of YourSingapore.

Stepping up to the challenge were bartenders Jonothan Carr of The Wild Rover, Pasan Wijesena of Earl’s Juke Joint, Sokyo Lounge‘s Michael Chiem and Max Greco of Vasco.

The result? A tie! YourSingapore was kind enough to send both Max and Pasan away on holiday to Singapore. The result for all parties involved? A win! The event received post-event coverage online and in the Time Out Sydney weekly newsletter – resulting in nearly 3,000 page views.
